To attack the common issue of poor posture, the overall armor was constructed with mainly cardboard. Experimenting with the different uses and connection of cardboard with only string and paper fasteners. The technique of weaving was used to create a structure for the Armor: The Balancing Hat. The Balancing Hat uses a single wooden ball and strings to remind the wearer of their posture by using the sense of sound and touch onto the wearer.
Taking the concept of the Balancing Hat, the idea of “balance” was put into the design the Community Swarm Dorm. The main idea revolves around a student’s life living on campus and how to influence the balance of being outside and indoors as an on campus college student.
